It’s time for another ‘best of’ round-up, and with so many people based at home at the moment, I thought it would be useful to dedicate this month’s edition to minimalist desks. In fact I’ve already had several Instagram messages asking me for recommendations!

This post was actually supposed to go live on Monday, but as most shops have temporarily closed their doors due to the Coronavirus crisis, I’ve redone the selection so that it only includes options that can be ordered online. There are still plenty to choose from, though, and they’re all ideal for creating a calm, clutter-free environment that encourages productivity and creativity.

I shared my top tips for working from home last week and talked about the importance of having a dedicated space, but not everyone has a room that they can use as an office. So, alongside standalone desks in a variety of sizes, you’ll find wall-mounted versions that can be installed in the corner of a bedroom, living room, dining room or hallway. Some have drawers for hiding away stationery and paper; others are integrated into shelving units that you can stack with books, ceramics, artwork and storage baskets. There’s also a fold-down desk that will suit even the most compact of homes, plus one with a pin board for notes and inspiration. All were still available when I hit ‘publish’, but I know some are selling fast so you might want to order quickly if you see one you like. My own desk, pictured above, is from the Hairpin Leg Company and is currently sold out, but you can register for an email alert when it’s back in stock.
